Welcome!

I am a labor, public, and regional economist with particular research interests in labor mobility, place-based policy, and local labor market analysis. I’m fascinated by questions like: why do people stay in one place, even when jobs are hard to find? What can local policy makers do to attract and retain talent? What kind of tax incentives help businesses and workers succeed?

I like to think I have a unique perspective on labor markets. I served in the military and worked in the private sector in both healthcare and education before beginning my PhD. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some really awesome people from diverse backgrounds and that has helped inform my research.
